An owl-shaped desk clock with a swinging pendulum and a timer that rings.
A quartz movement keeps the time, a pendulum swings below the dial on a real lever escapement, and a separate wind-up timer rings a bell when it runs down. 161 wooden pieces, no glue.
Why you'll love it
- ✓ Two mechanisms, one owl. A clock and a wind-up timer share the same body and run independently.
- ✓ Something that moves on your desk. The pendulum is what visitors notice first: almost nothing else on a desk swings by itself.
- ✓ A timer you can actually use. Set it up to 30 minutes, walk away, and a bell rings at zero.
- ✓ The works stay visible. Roman-numeral dial on the breast, gear train left open rather than boxed in.
Great gift for clock lovers, owl fans, desk-setup lovers and builders who like a mechanism they can use every day.

Build tips
- Build and test the timer separately from the clock before they share a frame.
- Give the pendulum a nudge: if it comes back on its own and keeps going, the escapement is right.
- Stand it on a flat, level surface: a pendulum that stops after a few swings is usually the surface, not the build.
Four hours to build. Then it keeps its own time, and yours.
